YSU Student Council celebrated the day of remembrance of warrior St. Sargis.
This initiative belongs to YSU Student Council Commission on Cultural Affairs. The holiday is celebrated not only through church rituals, but through national customs, too. The custom of eating salty bread is the one the most popular. The salty breads, by the way, were prepared by Student Council members. The salty crusts were distributed by the SC staff among the young employees of Alma mater in the morning.
"First of all our goal is to make this holiday traditional among the representatives of our younger generation, as February 14 is more popular. We are the followers of the Armenian Apostolic Church and according to our belief Sargis is one of our saints and not, of course, Valentine. Recently, according to the order of Catholicos, Saint Sargis holiday became the Day of Blessing Youth. The goal is to popularize the holiday", - said one of the initiators, YSU Faculty of Theology SC Chairman Anna Marmaryan.
The Commission on Cultural Affairs had prepared the surprise in advance in the way of several games and contests. The tradition, when boys make the love confession first was not followed and this right was passed to girls, then vice verse. The most sincere text was said by the Chairman of YSU Faculty of Chemistry SC Shoushan Grigoryan. The best confession among boys was made by Arsen Azaryan. In the end of the event gifts were distributed among the participants.
"According to my principals I can say that if I am sure I love someone and if it is the right moment I can make the first step and make the love confession, - said YSU student Hasmik Vardanyan and added , - but I have not experienced it yet. Though it was just a game today, anyway, this is something to think over".
